PURPOSE Awards of Distinction are presented each spring to recognize five (5) graduating seniors who, during their time at Marymount Manhattan, have made exceptional contributions in the areas of educational achievement, leadership, service, and spirit. The College's Awards Committee, composed of faculty and staff, reviews all complete applications and makes decisions based on their merits. These awards are presented at Commencement in May. ELIGIBILITY All seniors with graduation dates of September 1, 2012 (who were not granted permission to walk in May 2012), February 1, 2013, June 1, 2013, and September 1, 2013 (who are eligible and plan to walk at May 2013 Commencement) may apply for Awards of Distinction. APPLICATION PROCEDURES Please fill out this online form, which includes your general contact information, major(s), resume, and statement describing why you believe you are qualified for the award selected. Please be sure to address the criteria of the award in your statement. You must also request 1-3 recommendations from MMC faculty/staff. Please be sure they are aware of the submission deadline. Incomplete applications will not receive consideration. SUBMISSION DEADLINE Applications must be completed by 5:00 pm on Friday, March 15, 2013. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
Established in memory of Mother Rita Rowley, founder of Marymount Manhattan College, the Rowley Founder's Medal is awarded to the senior whose educational achievements represent extraordinary determination and effort.
Established in memory of Sister Raymunde McKay, the first President of Marymount Manhattan College, the Raymunde McKay Award is awarded to the senior who has made an outstanding contribution toward meeting the problems and demands of our society through service at Marymount Manhattan College and in the larger community.
Established by the College in memory of Mother Joseph Butler, who was responsible for establishing a network of colleges throughout the United States called "Marymount" the MMC Crest is awarded to the senior who has best demonstrated the spirit and embodiment of the educational mission of MMC: academic excellence and leadership within a strong liberal arts program.
In recognition of student leadership and volunteerism, the Trustees' Award is awarded to a senior who has made a significant contribution to the building of community among the students at Marymount Manhattan College.
This medal is awarded to the senior who has shown outstanding leadership and has made the most noteworthy contribution to MMC. Serving as an alumni liaison for her/his class, the recipient of this medal will work closely with the Alumni Office and the Alumni Leadership Council.

Please include a short statement (100-300 words) on why you feel deserving of the award and be sure to refer to the requirements of the award(s) you are applying for in your statement (if you prefer to submit seperate applications for each award, that will be accepted as well).
A recommendation from a staff/faculty member is required for the application. Students may obtain anywhere between 1 and 3 recommendations from faculty/staff members. (Please note that a faculty/staff nomination counts as a recommendation. We will notify you via your MMC email if you have been nominated). Please have your staff/faculty recommendations sent via one of the following options:
