On November 7, Maureen Sullivan '64 read from her book Ankle Soup: A Thanksgiving Story, and Alison Josephs, illustrator of Ankle Soup showed her original oil paintings that were used in the book.

Professor Mary Brown Leads Alumni on City Hall Circle Walking Tour

On September 26, Professor Mary Brown, archivist at the Thomas J. Shanahan Library at Marymount Manhattan College, led another fantastic tour of New York. In two and a half hours, the tour retraced five centuries' worth of architecture, historic and contemporary immigrant neighborhoods and three of the city's oldest cemeteries and sites associated with business, government and scandal.

Alumni and Students Volunteer for New York Cares Day

On October 17, the Office of Alumni Relations helped revitalize Our World Neighborhood Charter School in Astoria, N.Y., on New York Cares Day. A group of 13 alumni and students painted a welcoming mural near the main entrance and a mural that represents the various cultures of the world in the main office.

The Office of Alumni Relations, with special guest President Judson R. Shaver, Ph.D., hosted alumni for an evening at the Manhasset Bay Yacht Club on September 10, 2009. Guests enjoyed a festive evening with fellow classmates.

MMC's Alumni Relations Holds Career Workshop for Alumni

Six interviewers conducted 10 mock interviews for a variety of alumni attending the Career Workshop: Mock Interview Sessions on Thursday, June 11. Interviewees chose from four mock job openings for their interviews. Recent graduates looking for leverage to enter the job market and alumni who have been in the workforce attended the workshop to polish their interviewing and preparation skills.

Alumni Celebrate Anniversaries at Reunion 2009

At Reunion 2009 "Spring into MMC," 110 alumni celebrated the classes of '49, '54, '59, '64, '69, '74, '79, '84, '89, '94, '99 and '04 on Saturday, May 30. Alumni gathered in the Great Hall for the Reunion luncheon that honored Eilene Keller Bertsch '59 with the Pere Gailhac Award and Alice Riley Finley '79 with the Sr. Raymunde McKay Award.

MMC Alumni Association Inducts 2009 Graduates

The MMC Alumni Association welcomed new alumni at its induction dinner on May 21, 2009. The annual traditional event recognized student, faculty and staff accomplishments. President of the Alumni Leadership Council Marilyn Mills '02 spoke on behalf of the MMC Alumni Association and encouraged graduating seniors to remain involved with their alma mater.

MMC Art Professor Merrily Kerr Leads Chelsea Art Gallery Tour

Art professor Merrily Kerr led alumni on a Chelsea gallery tour that included six galleries. Since the first galleries opened in Chelsea a decade ago, the area has changed dramatically from industrial no man's land to a contemporary art Mecca where established galleries rub shoulders with young up and coming spaces. Alumni experienced one of the most dynamic contemporary art scenes in the world.

Professor Mary Brown Leads Greenwich Village Walking Tour

Professor Mary Brown, who is also the archivist at MMC's Thomas J. Shanahan Library, led alumni on an in-depth tour of Greenwich Village. Stops on the tour included Cooper Union and Peter Cooper's statue, McSorley's Ale House, the site of the Papp Theatre, Judson Memorial Church and many more.

Alumni Jumpstart Their Careers at the Career Networking Social

On April 2, the Offices of Career Development and Alumni Relations hosted a Career Networking Social to help jumpstart participants' job searches and to invigorate their careers. Alumni learned about new web-based initiatives that are available to both alums and students and received tips from guest speakers.

Grant and Lee in War and Peace Exhibit at the New-York Historical Society

Alumni and friends gathered for a reception and a docent-led tour of the Grant and Lee in War and Peace exhibit on March 6. Attendees explored the stories of Ulysses S. Grant (1822-1885) and Robert E. Lee (1807-1870).

5th Annual Golf Tournament at the Stanwich Club

The College hosted the 2008 Golf Tournament on October 6 at The Stanwich Club
in Greenwich, Connecticut. The event commenced with registration and brunch, followed
with a shotgun start and closed with cocktails and dinner.
