Margaret Shakibai earned her Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from Marymount Manhattan College in 2001. She earned a Masters of Philosophy and Doctorate of Philosophy from the City University of New York’s Graduate Center in the Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences. She is certified through the American Speech and Hearing Association as a speech language pathologist. She has worked with children with a range of communication disorders, including those diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, Down’s Syndrome, and cerebral palsy. Before joining the faculty at Marymount, she taught courses within the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Marymount, Brooklyn College, and William Paterson University of New Jersey. She also served as a research associate and later as a post doctoral fellow at the Developmental Neurolinguistics Lab at the CUNY Graduate Center, studying maturation of language processing abilities from infancy through adulthood. - Language acquisition and processing abilities of typically- and atypically-developing infants and children
- Early identification and intervention of children at-risk for language disorders, reading difficulty, and autism spectrum disorders
- Etiology of autism spectrum disorders
