Dr. Tietze serves as Program Coordinator and Chair of Psychology. Trained as a clinician, he teaches courses, such as Personality Psychology, Group Dynamics, and Family Processes, a course he developed for MMC’s Psychology Department. Interested to unify our approach to education in both arts and sciences, he has also developed a course for MMC’s Cultural Studies program called Jazz and American Identity, and a new course, The Psychology of Music. He teaches Psychological Portraits in Literature. He has developed the Art Therapy Minor in collaboration with Professors Hallie Cohen and Millie Falcaro from MMC’s Art Department.

Faculty-Student Collaborations
Presenter at Bedford Hills First Annual Conference, Spring 2007. “The Career Development Cycle at MMC”. Mentored two adjunct faculty as co-presenters; Gloria Stevens & Waleska Padillo.
Article “Jazz and American Identity: Case Study of a College Course”accepted for publication, August 2007, in APA refereed journal, Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity and the Arts.
Presentation with Professor John Costello Robertson Davies, Identity and Jungian Archetypes: An Exploratory Study” accepted at MMC Satire Conference, June 2008,
Re-Organized COR 300: Jazz and American Identity as a hybrid on-line course, using Blackboard software.
Service
Served as Chair of Psychology Department, including: mentoring adjunct and new faculty, running department meetings, class observations, directing catalog changes, writing Annual Report for the department, updating Advisement Guidelines, recruiting activities, proposing new minor in Art Therapy, working with Psychology Club to sponsor jazz concerts, career development program (with Diana Nash),  and Psychodrama demonstrations.
