(New York, NY) Today’s economy is forcing industries, corporations and institutions to re-examine their marketing strategies in order to maximize their reach and communicate to their audience.

Steve Cone, Chief Marketing Officer of Epsilon, the leading provider in the world of data-driven marketing and integrated marketing services, will provide insight and lecture on how to market in this difficult economy. Cone will present his lecture, “Marketing UP in a DOWN Economy,” at 5:30 p.m., May 12 in the Theresa Lang Theatre at Marymount Manhattan College.

Cone’s lecture will examine a variety of marketing campaigns, including a discussion of President Barack Obama’s campaign. In addition, Cone will address some of the challenges associated with marketing in today’s tough economy. This lecture is FREE and open to the public. Business professionals, institution administrators, marketing/advertising students are encouraged to attend.

From 2000 through 2007, Cone served as managing director and head of advertising and brand management at Citigroup Global Wealth Management which includes The Citigroup Private Bank, Citigroup/Smith Barney, and Citigroup Investment Research. He also coordinated world-wide brand management for all of Citigroup’s businesses in more than 100 countries and encompassing 200 million customers.

Prior to joining Citigroup, Cone was president of Fidelity’s retail business and Fidelity’s Chief Marketing Officer. At Fidelity he launched a successful advertising campaign featuring renowned former portfolio manager Peter Lynch and managed Fidelity’s successful expansion into discount brokerage, making it the world’s largest provider in that industry. Over his 30-year career-half of it in financial services-Cone has earned a reputation for innovative marketing management, working with Key Corp, Citibank, and American Express.

Cone suggests reading his best-selling marketing book entitled Steal These Ideas: Marketing Secrets That Will Make You A Star, before attending the May 12th lecture. Cone’s second book, Powerlines, published in May, 2008, was cited as one of three marketing books worth reading by the United States Independent Book Publishers Association.
