Board Welcomes Martarano as Chair and Lowerre '81 as New Trustee

| (New York, NY) On May 5, 2009, the Board of Trustees of Marymount Manhattan College elected Louis A. Martarano, B.S., MPPM, Chair of the Board and welcomed Paul C. Lowerre '81, B.A. as a new board member.
Elected to the Board in the fall of 2001, Louis A. Martarano also currently chairs the Academic Affairs Committee and serves on the Executive, Facilities, Investment & Finance Committees of the Board and the Campaign Executive Committee. He serves on numerous philanthropic boards, including the Pennsylvania State University Dean’s Advisory Board for the Eberly College of Science, The Palmer Art Museum Advisory Board and the Alumni Advisory Board for the LGBTA Student Center. He received a master’s degree in public and private management from Yale University.
During his 18-year career in project finance at Merrill Lynch and, before that, Kidder Peabody, Martarano assisted a broad range of domestic and international clients in raising public, private and multilateral debt and equity for infrastructure, energy and environmental facilities.
 |  |  Paul C. Lowerre '81, Trustee | | The Board of Trustees also elected Paul C. Lowerre as the newest member of the Board. Lowerre, currently serves as a Senior Vice President of Investments at UBS Financial Services, Inc. in New York City. Lowerre has been with UBS in various positions since 2000 and was previously at PaineWebber Inc. and Kidder Peabody & Co., Inc. He studied at the Center for Fiduciary Studies, affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh Katz School of Business and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Marymount Manhattan College.
Lowerre is Chairman of the Board of Franklin College, a liberal arts college located in Lugano, Switzerland; and a board member of the Friends of Hildene, Robert Todd Lincoln’s historic home in Manchester, Vermont. His other philanthropic activities include the LSA Family Health Service, the Elsie Lee Garthwaite Memorial Foundation, and the Stroganoff Foundation Ltd. Paul and his wife Ursula are trustees of The Lowerre Family Charitable Trust.
