Aug. 16: Volunteer for Weekend VIPP at Prospect Park

August 16, 2009
Date: Sunday, August 16
Time: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Location: Prospect Park in Brooklyn (Grand Army Plaza entrance)
Contact: Shelli Luchs at sluchs@mmm.edu / (212) 517-0458.

The Alumni Leadership Council’s Outreach Committee invites alumni to join them for their first project at Weekend VIPP. Help improve the environment and your community by sprucing up flower and shrub beds, clearing fence lines, and caring for trees by weeding and mulching. Please bring a packed lunch for the day. We will meet at the Grand Army Plaza entrance, located at the intersection of Flatbush Avenue, Eastern Parkway, and Prospect Park West, at 9:45 a.m.

Prospect Park is a 585-acre urban oasis located in the heart of Brooklyn. The masterpiece of famed landscape architects Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, who also designed Central Park, Prospect Park features the 90-acre Long Meadow, the 60-acre Lake and Brooklyn’s only forest. The nation’s first urban Audubon Center, the Prospect Park Zoo, and the Celebrate Brooklyn! Performing Arts Festival are just a few of the cultural attractions that make their home at the Park.

For those unfamiliar with Brooklyn and interested in meeting in the city prior to heading to the Park, please email sluchs@mmm.edu.
