The Department of Dance at Marymount Manhattan College presents the annual lecture series Dialogues in Dance. “Dance and New Media” will feature Kate Lydon, editor in chief of Dance Spirit Magazine; Kriota Willberg, dance filmmaker and co-director of UMOVE Online Videodance Festival; and Jaki Levy, director of Arrow Root Media Company and web developer of Misnomer Dance Theatre on October 6. These three presenters are involved in unique intersections of dance and new media by focusing on new forms of communication, video dance, and web presence of companies and dance artists. The presenters’ diverse expertise allows for an exploration of the impact of new media on contemporary dance, as well as how dance artists take advantage of new communications outlets to diversify and heighten their exposure.
