Oct. 16: Griffin United Starts New York Soccer Season

(New York, NY) – Marymount Manhattan’s co-ed soccer team Griffin United will take on Black Watch at 7:05 p.m., Oct. 16, at the Auxiliary Gymnasium at Baruch College. Griffin United is MMC’s first-ever sports team and two-time league champion (winning in the Fall and Spring of the 2008-2009 academic year). This year, Griffin United has advanced from club status and joined the IM Sports and Recreation program in the Office of Student Development and Activities.
Coached by Alejandro Fernandez, so far this season, Griffin United has won their first two games against Free Agents and First Timers, respectively. The MMC community is invited to show their school spirit and support Griffin United.
This year’s team roster includes: Cesar Jaitman-Labaton ’12 (Goalkeeper), Colin Mehigan ’12 (Captain), Joshua Hashmi ’12 (Vice-Captain), Roberto Bettega ’12, Shane Mehigan ’11, Devon Brown ’13, Daniel Ledford ’12, Laura Nitz ’13, Sarah Langan ’12, Beck Hesselbach ’11, Victoria Preston ’12, and Bonnie Baxter ’13.
Griffin United soccer team plays as part of The New York Coed Soccer League every Friday night at the Auxiliary Gymnasium at Baruch College. The entrance is on 24th Street and Lexington Avenue in Manhattan. Game times are 7:05 p.m., 7:50 p.m., and 8:40 p.m. Check the online schedule at http://www.nycoedsoccer.com/FallIndoorFridays.html
