More than halfway to the 2015 deadline to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), an assessment launched by the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon recognizes that major advances in the fight against poverty and hunger have begun to slow or even reverse as a result of the global economic food crises. In response, he challenged us to seize this moment to act responsibly for the collective good. The Campus Ministry will host a lecture with Nikhil Seth, director of the UN Office for ECOSOC Support and Coordination, on February 17 in the Regina Peruggi Room. Seth will provide an overview of the MDGs and will dedicate a portion of the event to questions and discussion about the next step towards eliminating poverty by 2015.
