Sponsored by the New York City Association of Assistant Principals Supervisors of English, Our Mutual Estate annual conference is a working collaboration between members of NYCAAPSE and college faculty on a chosen theme. This year, “Bridging the Gap between High School and What Comes After” will offer a number of workshops with MMC faculty that will focus on bridging the gap between high school, college and the years beyond high school and college, including workshops on writing the college admissions essay, understanding poetry through writing and oral performance, foreign language study and literacy, using the arts to stimulate writing and visual literacy, children’s literature and the elements of fiction, posing research questions to launch a research project, sustaining critical thinking at any age, and new approaches to working with grammar.
