HEWITT GALLERY OF ART: "Fancy That" Exhibit, Oct. 18 - Nov. 11

November 11, 2004
(Right) Detail of Caroline Beasley-Baker's Tantra (Hem), actual size 18" x 72". Acrylic, fluorescent paint, oil stick, china marker, plastic gems, porcelain roses, and half pearls on wood panels.

This exhibit will run from Oct 18 through Nov 11, 2004.

The work in "Fancy That" is simple and has strong messages. The artwork combines symbols, graphic icons, patterns and bold headlines. There are works that portray anger, happiness, guilt, innocence, betrayals, love and hate. The media is as varied - mirrors, beads, sequins - just about anything that glitters and shines. Featured artists include: Caroline Beasley-Baker, Gabriela Bertiller and Robert Marshall.

Location: Hewitt Gallery of Art
Marymount Manhattan College
Main Building, First Floor
