Marymount Manhattan College Earns Spot On
2009 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll

New York, NY – Marymount Manhattan College has been included as a member of the 2009 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. This recognition comes from Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), which pays tribute to the work of students, faculty, staff and alumni who support local communities though service.
The President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll is an annual recognition program that celebrates exemplary commitment to service and volunteering from institutions of higher education.
In a letter from CNCS Chief Executive Officer Patrick A. Corvington, MMC earned its spot on the honor roll as an institution that “plays a critical role in expanding the opportunity for citizens to serve; increasing the capacity of individuals, organizations and communities to become more effective; and demonstrating that service is a crucial tool for addressing the challenges that the nation faces.”
Inherent in the College’s mission is the intent to develop an awareness of social, political, cultural and ethical issues, in the belief that this awareness will lead to concern for, participation in, and improvement of society. MMC promotes the importance and benefits of community service through a variety of campus-wide initiatives and programs, including the Service Learning Programs, student club volunteerism and faculty/student research projects.
