Join MMC for a screening of the award-winning documentary film Good Fortune by Landon Van Soest and Jeremey Levine. Good Fortune focuses critically on conditions of poverty in Kenya. From countryside to Nairobi, the filmmakers reveal how massive international efforts to alleviate poverty in Africa may be undermining the very communities they aim to benefit. Professors in disciplines of African studies, sociology, documentary film and community engagement will discuss the provocative subject of the film with students following the screening. This event is a collaboration with P.O.V., PBS' award-winning nonfiction film series. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
