A national historic landmark and one of the most unique museums in New York City, the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum features exhibits ranging from thrilling historical recreations and newly opened areas to the latest in virtual and video-display technology. Located at Pier 86, Intrepid spans the length of four city blocks and features interactive exhibits that excite and entertain as they educate. Discover never-before-seen areas of the ship, from the Fo’c’s’le with its massive anchor chains to the newly opened Berthing area where the crew slept. From WWII to the modern day, the awe-inspiring collection of authentically restored aircraft includes an original TBM Avenger torpedo bomber, A-4B Skyhawk and A-12 Blackbird - all completely restored to their historic glory. The former USS Growler is the world’s only strategic, diesel-powered nuclear deterrent submarine open to the public. See all of this and so much more on our day aboard the Intrepid! Our lunch, provided by Au Bon Pain, will be served in the Mess Deck, where the sailors themselves once dined. For more information please visit www.intrepidmuseum.org.
