THEATRE: There are Crimes and Crimes, or Intoxication

April 17, 2005
MMC Theatre Production Workshop presents "There are Crimes and Crimes, or Intoxication" by August Strindberg. Partly a comedy of manners and a melodrama of crime and detective work, "There are Crimes and Crimes" most importantly is an exploration of conflicting desires and the pangs of conscience. The characters are young artists, writers and performers who populate the bohemian world of turn-of-the-century Paris with its many cafés and restaurants. In this provocative work, Strindberg projects human drives into a richly theatrical landscape of movement, sound, dance, music and images. This production is performed by students in the Theatre Arts programs of the College with direction by Mary Fleischer, scenic design by Michael Candela, costume design by Gail Cooper Hecht, lighting design by Ray Recht, choreography by Haila Strauss, and musical direction and original music by Bruce Lazarus.
