MMC Hosts Advance Screening of "The Stone Reader"
January 23, 2003
Marymount Manhattan College, in conjunction with Crown Theatres, kicks off its "Perspectives on Contemporary Cinema Program" with a special screening of Mark Moskowitz's "Stone Reader" followed by a question & answer session with the director on Thurs., Feb. 13, 2004 at 9am. The screening, located at the New York Twin Crown Theatre on Second Ave. and 67th St., is free and open to the public. Following the screening will be a reception and discussion at Marymount Manhattan College. Both locations are easily accessed by the #6 train at the 68th Street stop.
A critically acclaimed film and winner of several prestigious Slamdance Film Festival Awards, "Stone Reader" documents Moskowitz's journey to find out why both the book "The Stones of Summer" and its author, Dow Mossman, have mysteriously vanished. Moskowitz, an IFP Independent Spirit Award Nominee for the DIRECTTV/IFC Truer than Fiction Award for the film, will discuss the creative and production processes following the screening.
"This special event is an outstanding opportunity for Marymount Manhattan College to bring the arts to our community in an excellent venue," notes David Linton, MMC Humanities Division Chair and coordinator of the Perspectives on Contemporary Cinema Program.
"Stone Reader" is the first of six free screenings to be featured in Marymount Manhattan College's "Perspectives on Contemporary Cinema Program," all sponsored in part by Crown Theatres. For further event details, contact (212) 517-0642.
