Hewitt Gallery of Art: The Shape of Things to Come

September 15, 2005
From drawings and installations that are representations of mental maps to traditional paintings on canvas, The Shape of Things to Come presents works that employ hypothetical and real shapes: these are shapes that we know like circles or dots as well as shapes we seem to know or remember but cannot label. Featured artists Janice Caswell, Keith Gamache, and Nancy Kearing use a variety of materials in their work including hole-punched paper, straight pins, and graphite. Shown above right is Self Taught (medium: Acid free masking tape on paper; size: 82.5 x 44 inches; year: 2002) by artist Keith Gamache.

Exhibition dates: September 12 – October 13
Opening reception: Thursday, September 15, 6 – 8pm, Hewitt Gallery of Art
