THEATRE: The Holy Terror: An Adaptation of Shakespeare’s Richard II
November 16, 2005
MMC Theatre Production Workshop presents The Holy Terror: An Adaptation of Shakespeare's Richard II. The Holy Terror is a chaotic, medieval fairy tale told through the reckless actions of King Richard II and his motley crew. This stage adaptation of Shakespeare's Richard II, with additional text taken from Thomas of Woodstock (anonymous, 1592), is about human frailty and a king who fails to be a king. Shakespeare's play has been radically cut and re-shaped by adapter and director Kevin Connell, but the integrity of the original work remains, centering around the conflicts of political, patriarchal and human rights. This production is performed by students in the Theatre Arts programs of the College with direction by Kevin Connell, scenic design by Ray Recht, and costume design by Kirche Zeile. Opening night reception will follow the performance on Wednesday, November 16th.
Performances: November 16 – 19 at 8pm, November 20 at 2pm Tickets: General admission: $10; senior citizens, students, & alumni with valid ID: $5; TDF vouchers accepted.
