MMC Theatre Production Workshop Presents In the Boom Boom Room

(New York, NY) Starting April 19, MMC Theatre Production Workshop will present In the Boom Boom Room by David Rabe. The play revolves around a young woman who is seeking stardom as a serious dancer and finds herself suddenly working in a disco/bar called The Boom Boom Room. Fighting to keep her dreams intact through a sea of strippers, prostitutes, and destructive relationships, she remains hopeful until the bitter end.

In the Boom Boom Room, originally produced by the Public Theater in 1973, remains a searing feminist portrait, written by one of the most significant and influential playwrights of our time.

The production will be performed by students in the Theatre Arts programs of the College with direction by Ellen Orenstein, scenic design by Miguel Rosa, and lighting design by Chris Coyle. The content of this show is not appropriate for children.

An opening night reception will follow the 8 p.m. performance on Wednesday, April 19th. Performances will continue April 20, 21 and 22 at 8 p.m., and April 23 at 2 p.m.

General admission is $10; senior citizens, students, & alumni with valid ID can buy tickets for $5; TDF vouchers are accepted. Admission is free for MMC students, faculty, and staff with valid MMC ID card. Call (212) 774-0760 for reservations and further information.
