ART: The Process of Painting
November 8, 2006
(Right) This 60 x 48 acrylic on canvas is titled "Leviathin." The artist is Sara Klar.
Though paintings are stunning unto themselves, the methodology of applying paint to and/or removing paint from canvas is key to the finished work. Pouring, splattering, sprinkling, cutting, rolling and peeling are techniques employed as alternatives to and in addition to using traditional brushing techniques to apply media to a substrate, resulting in powerful works of art. Artists Michael Filan and Younhee Paik also have their works on display.
Exhibition dates: October 16 – November 8 Opening reception: Thursday, October 19, 6 – 8pm, Hewitt Gallery of Art
