MMC's 2007 President's Medal Dinner Raises Nearly $400,000 for the College

(New York, NY) At Marymount Manhattan’s 2007 gala benefit, Celebrating Visionaries, the College honored President’s Medal recipients Geraldine Ferraro ’56 and Natan Wekselbaum, president of Gracious Home. The gala was held on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at the Rainbow Room in Rockefeller Plaza.

Natalie Morales, a national correspondent and co-anchor for NBC’s “The Today Show,” served as the mistress of ceremonies. George Matouk of John Matouk & Co., Barbara McIntyre Hack ’73, and Ken Mesnick and Jordan Smilowitz of Gracious Home, were the gala chairs.

Highlights of the evening included speeches from Geraldine Ferraro ’56, Natan Wekselbaum, and Barbara Hack ’73, who each spoke about their affinity for the College. Students also played a significant role in the evening’s events. Michelle Then ’10 spoke about the important role MMC has played in shaping her goals for the future, and student performers Ron Carlos ’07 and Stephanie Card ’08 performed an arrangement of songs with piano accompaniment by Nathan Atkinson ’07.

With about 250 guests attending and close to $400,000 raised for the College, the 2007 Gala Benefit was a great success. Proceeds from the President’s Medal Gala will help Marymount Manhattan College continue to provide a high quality liberal arts education as an affordable option for a diverse body of students through scholarship opportunities.
