A Message from President Shaver on the Virginia Tech Tragedy
 |
With great sadness we watched and listened to the tragic news coming from Virginia Tech on Monday, where a gunman killed thirty-two people and injured many others in an unspeakable act of violence. Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims, their families and friends and the entire Virginia Tech community. Many members of the MMC community have friends and colleagues at Virginia Tech; we are all grieving during this difficult time.
The Offices of Campus Ministry, Residence Life and Counseling and Psychological Services are always available for any member of the MMC community in need of their guidance and support. I am sure that our entire community shares in the horror that such mindless acts could invade a learning environment. On behalf of the College, I will extend our deepest condolences to the President of Virginia Tech and its community of students, faculty and staff.
In support of the Virginia Tech community, Marymount Manhattan will hold a memorial service at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 19 in the chapel (4th floor, Main Building). All are invited to attend.
