MMC to Host 2007 Writers' Conference

(New York, NY) The 2007 Writers’ Conference at Marymount Manhattan College will feature discussions from almost 70 distinguished authors, agents, publicists, editors and journalists on how to succeed in the literary world. The College will host the Writers’ Conference on June 7, 2007 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
There will be four sessions throughout the day, featuring moderators and panelists on topics spanning the written areas of fiction, non-fiction, memoirs, mystery, children’s books, and humor. Two keynote speakers will highlight the event: Sara Nelson, editor-in-chief of Publisher’s Weekly and Cynthia Ozick, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author. The conference will close with a networking reception.
In conjunction with the conference, four-day Writing Intensive Workshops will be held from Monday, June 4th, through Thursday, June 7th, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Also hosted at the College, the intensive workshops will provide attendees with a chance to personally consult with and learn tips from a top writer. This year will feature workshops with Heidi Julavits, Christopher Lehmann-Haupt and Ben Cheever.
The 2007 Writers’ Conference and Writing Intensive Workshops will take place at Marymount Manhattan College (221 E. 71st Street).
The special rate for those who register for both the Conference and the Writing Intensives is $525 before June 1 and $585 afterwards. The registration fee for the Writers’ Conference individually is $175 before June 1 and $195 afterwards. The fee for the Writing Intensives individually is $415 before June 1 and $455 afterwards.
