Master Class in Fiction
November 7, 2007
The Master Class in Fiction will begin by exploring the relationship of fiction to reality and the many dilemmas this issue raises for writers. From there we will proceed to defining the basic elements of storytelling: what makes a story, what its parts are, and how closely the writer has to stick to its rules in the eras of modernism and post-modernism. Finally, we will concentrate on two essential elements of any form of fiction, namely point of view and narrative voice.
November 7 - December 5, 2007 from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. 4 sessions, No class Nov 21, $325, Library 1.
Christopher Lehman-Haupt has been a staff member of The New York Times for thirty-two years. He is the former senior daily book reviewer and is now its chief obituary writer. Mr. Lehman-Haupt is the author of three books: Me and DiMaggio, and the novels A Crooked Man and The Mad Cook of Pymatuning.
