Poets Forum: Aesthetic Diversity in Poetry Today

October 20, 2007

When: Saturday, October 20th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Theresa Lang Theater, Marymount Manhattan College

Some of the most important poets of our time explore questions central to poetry today. A sequence of four intimate panels will discuss such issues as aesthetic lineage and originality, clarity and obscurity in poetry, and unlikely influences that have shaped poets' work. Each session will end with questions from the audience. Poets will include the new Poet Laureate of the United States, Charles Simic, as well as Rita Dove, Galway Kinnell, Sharon Olds, Robert Pinsky, James Tate, and many others.

This event is sponsored by the Academy of American Poets and the English Department at MMC.

A reception will take place in the Regina Peruggi Room throughout the day and also following the event.

Contact the Academy of American Poets at (212)274-0343 or www.poets.org/poetsforum for ticket information.
