Alumni Tour of the Morgan Library Led by Cathleen McLoughlin ’60 and Millie Falcaro

April 12, 2008
Date: April 12
Time: 2:30 p.m.
Location: Morgan Library, 29 E 36th St, New York, NY 10016
Cost: Free (Pay as you go lunch will follow tour)
Registration: To register, please click here.

A tour would include a visit to the original library designed by Charles McKim of McKim, Mead & White. (The library was featured in the film Ragtime.) The building is a work of art in itself, inside and out. The exhibition space added by Renzo Piano, at the moment, has literary and historical manuscripts, medieval manscripts (religious and secular), musical manuscripts and listening stations. A short film is shown on the hour and the half hour in the magnificent new auditorium. A visit to the Irving Penn photographic exhibit is an option as is a visit to the 79 drawings done in preparation for the decoration of the Palazzo Vecchio of Cosimo de Medici in Florence. Two of the drawings are by Michelangelo. A marvelous gift shop and dining room are housed in the original brownstone. A cafe is located on the piazza in the center of the complex.

After the tour, we will gather for a pay as you go lunch in the café.
