Graduating with an Hispanic Studies minor gives you preparation for a rapidly changing world, where Spanish is quickly becoming one of the most widely used modern languages. The social and political influences of the countries that speak this language are evident in the increasing numbers of Spanish-speaking people in the United States. Speaking Spanish will open a range of opportunities for you in the professional and personal world.

The MMC Advantage

MMC's 18-credit Hispanic Studies Minor is an interdisciplinary program that draws upon fields of study in the social sciences and humanities, where you receive training in the Spanish language and cover historical and current developments in the Hispanic community. These courses are taught in both English and Spanish.

Internship Opportunities
The Minor also includes experiential internships in Hispanic business, cultural and community organizations in the New York area as well as teaching, translating, being a linguist, journalist or broadcaster. Graduate and career opportunities
Once proficient in Spanish, you are capable of landing positions in international business, government, schools, and organizations providing important services in our society including: corporate executive, scholar, teacher, writer, researcher, translator, interpreter, social worker and diplomat.

Curriculum Highlights
The Spanish curriculum offers a strong foundation in the structure of the Spanish language and emphasizes the socio-cultural changes taking place in this century. Once you begin to gain a fluency in the language, you will have the option of taking courses in literature as well as in Spanish for business and international affairs. You can also study abroad in a Spanish-speaking country.
