The CHIH is a non-profit organization founded in 1982 to provide housing fro low-income housing and the homeless. CHIH sponsors five buildings in Washington Heights and Harlem communities with a total of 218 units. A small number of units are available to families. Each building is provided with on site social support services by the center for Urban Community. Volunteers are needed for an after-school component due to lack of funding. Volunteers are needed for ESL, reading, math, and social sciences. After-school programming is from 4pm-7pm, M-F.
