Arts and Music
Everyone knows that the arts flourish in New York City from the lights of Broadway to the museums lining the city streets, the energy of creativity and performance is everywhere. That energy is alive and well on the Marymount Manhattan campus, where students can be found relishing in the arts day and night operating the campus radio station, performing in theatrical productions, writing for the campus newspaper, displaying their works in the art gallery. There's no better place to develop talent.
The Hewitt Gallery of Art
This highly recognized gallery showcases work by well-known and emerging artists that reflect a wide range of concerns, style and media. Paintings, drawings, photography, sculptures, videos and other multimedia productions are on display throughout the year. Hundreds of artists, critics, collectors and curators visit the museum, and MMC students have the opportunity to work with these audiences through internships and curatorial studies.
The Theresa Lang Theatre
MMC students gain work experience in this Off-Broadway performance space for music, dance, opera and theatre companies. In addition, students are welcome to attend master classes, open rehearsals and panel discussions with theatre professionals such as Stephen Sondheim, John Guare and Wendy Wasserstein.
