Marymount Manhattan College's 32-Story Dormitory

Marymount Manhattan College's 55th Street Residence Hall is one of the tallest college dorms in America, housing our undergraduate students in the first 32 stories of a 46-story tall skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan.

Since opening in 2001, the residence hall has had a positive effect on student life at Marymount Manhattan, creating a college community beyond the 71st Street campus. It houses over 500 students during the school year, with a focus on first-year housing and the first-year experience.

Each apartment has two bedrooms, with two to four students in each room. The suite roommates share a bathroom and kitchen, and roommates in each bedroom share one cable jack. There are also individual lines for Internet. Landline phone connections are available at an extra cost.

The residence hall has 24-hour security with an ID card entry system, a laundry room, student rehearsal space and lounges. There is also a convenience store within the building that works with students' meal plans. It's a fairly quick walk of 16 blocks to Marymount Manhattan's classrooms and library. And the city views from the building are pretty exceptional for student housing.

The top stories of the building are not student housing, but private luxury apartments. They were built by the private company that partnered with the College in the building's development. Residents of the luxury apartments use a separate entrance.
