Nourish Your Mind and Body
Let's be honest...college can be tough. You're adjusting to a new life, and even though it's exciting, it can also be confusing. You may be away from home for the first time. Chances are you won't know many people when you first arrive on campus. You may feel overwhelmed by classes, but you may feel even more overwhelmed by choices. Don't forget to heed your inner voice, take five every now and then, give yourself some quiet time and seek spiritual, physical and emotional security.
Physical and mental well-being
Your personal health is important to your success. If you're not feeling well or if you're encountering emotional difficulties, know that MMC has resources for you. Counseling and Psychological Services are available to all students free of charge and include initial evaluations, short-term counseling and referrals for long-term treatment. We have mental health counselors on staff full time to meet with students, as well as a part-time psychiatrist who provides evaluations, dispenses prescriptions and monitors medications. Our medical team is very familiar with the challenges you face as a college student and is prepared to help you cope with these challenges.
We also provide excellent physical health care MMC has partnered with Continuum Health Care Services to ensure that all students have access to expert physicians and modern facilities. Coverage under MMC's health insurance policy allows students to visit doctors at Continuum facilities and receive discounts on prescriptions.
Spiritual well-being
The students at MMC reflect the diversity of cultures and beliefs that are present throughout New York City, one of the world's most diverse, vibrant cities. No matter what your background, if you're looking for a place to worship and friends to share your beliefs, you'll find a group that shares your interest. MMC has campus minister who helps coordinate interdenominational liturgies, prayer meetings, lectures and discussions. Of course, there are numerous houses of worship throughout the city as well, should you wish to attend regular worship services at a local church, synagogue, temple, or mosque.
