Places to Hang Out

Asked where MMC students hang out around campus, one student responded, "We hang out in restaurants and bars all around school because the food is so cheap and so good." Music to a college student's ears.

When students see their friends crossing the street from their dorms to go to Gino's Pizza, they're known to call out "Hey, get me a piece of pizza. Cheese." Often, students will bring a pie back to Nugent Lounge to share. They also frequent eateries around the corner from MMC such as Café Bacio's, BBQ's, Grace's Marketplace and the Healthy Bagel.

All along 3rd Avenue from the residence halls to the college, students window shop at trendy boutiques, salons and larger stores. If you take 2nd Avenue to school, you can see the Roosevelt Island Tram and the graceful Queensboro Bridge.

On campus, the Nugent Lounge is by far the most popular hangout, with computers, tables and chairs and a snack shop. The cafeteria is usually quieter and is a great place to get a hot meal, special-order a sandwich or eat a hot, buttered bagel.

If you have a day off from classes, you might meet friends or study in one of the 55th Street residence hall lounges. You might walk over to Central Park for Frisbee or rollerblading or just to sit on a blanket. On or off campus, there are plenty of places to relax, eat a good meal and share some laughs with friends.
