MMC Scholarships
The Office of Admission offers merit-based scholarships that take into consideration your academic performance, extracurricular talents and history of leadership and community service. By completing the Application for Admission by March 15 for Fall entrants or November 15 for Spring entrants, you will be considered for these scholarships. Any application completed after this date will be considered based on remaining funds available. Please refer to the Marymount Manhattan College Catalogue for specific scholarship criteria and application requirements.
Freshman Academic Excellence Award
Candidates must enter as a new freshman and submit SAT scores of 1150 (Math and Critical Reading combined) or higher and 3.0 GPA or higher. Students must be a US citizen or permanent resident, degree-seeking and full-time. Eligible students receive $8,000 per year.
New York City Scholarship
Candidates must enter as a new freshman and submit SAT scores of 1150 (Math and Critical Reading combined) or higher and 3.0 GPA or higher. Students must be a US citizen or permanent resident, resident of New York City, degree-seeking, full-time, and be a graduate of a New York City High School. Eligible students receive $2,000 per year.
Transfer Academic Excellence Award
Candidates must enter as a transfer student with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Students must be a US citizen or permanent resident, degree-seeking and full-time. Eligible students receive $6,000 per year.
Transfer Academic Merit Award
Candidates must enter as a transfer student with a GPA of 3.0-3.49. Students must be a US citizen or permanent resident, degree-seeking and full-time. Eligible students receive $3,000 per year.
Student Leadership Scholarship
The Student Leadership Scholarship is awarded to those who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in their school or communities. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents and must be entering in the fall semester as a full-time, degree-seeking student. Students selected for the Scholarship will receive $2,000 per academic year. Those who show superior academic ability will be awarded in the form of the Gladys Brooks Leadership Scholarship. This award is the same dollar amount, but is funded by one of our generous donors. Applications must be received by February 1. Career Development Grant
Application For The Career Development Grant (pdf)
Students eligible to apply must be a US citizen or permanent resident, degree-seeking, part-time student taking 6-11 credits. Requires an application, FAFSA completed (www.fafsa.ed.gov), admissions interview, and a 1000 word essay describing the student's professional goals and how a degree from MMC will assist you in attaining those goals. Renewal requires a cumulative GPA of 2.8. Eligible students receive $2,000 per year.
Diplomatic Scholarship
Must be enrolled as a degree-seeking, full-time freshman or transfer student. Citizens or permanent residents of the US are not eligible. Must present evidence of membership of a foreign mission or consulate, or the United Nations, or is the child or spouse of a member of one of the before listed organizations. Must have an academic average of at least a "B" and a TOEFL score of 550. Renewal requires a 2.5 cumulative GPA and a letter confirming membership in the above mentioned organizations is still current. Eligible students receive $5,000 per year.
21st Century Scholarship
Must be enrolled as a degree-seeking, full-time freshman or transfer student. Citizens or permanent residents of the US are not eligible. Must demonstrate superior academic achievement. A limited number of these awards are available. The Director of International Recruitment will recommend qualified candidates. Renewal requires a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Eligible students receive $5,000 per year.
Community College Honor Society Scholarship
Must be a US citizen or permanent resident, full-time, degree-seeking student entering from a community college. Must be a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Alpha Beta Gamma, or other recognized community college honor society. Must provide a copy of the membership card or other proof of membership. Eligible students receive $1,000 per year. Renewal requires a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
AmeriCorps Scholarship
Must be a US citizen or permanent resident, full-time, degree-seeking student who is an alum of AmeriCorps. Proof of membership in AmeriCorps. MMC will match up to $2,000 of the AmeriCorps scholarship that a student is awarded. Renewal requires a cumulative GPA of 3.0
Dollars for Scholars Collegiate Award
Marymount Manhattan College is a Collegiate Partner of Scholarship America® and the Dollars for Scholars® family of community scholarship foundations. MMC has agreed that Dollars for Scholars awards of (up to $2,500) per student will not adversely affect scholarship funding provided by MMC. In addition, MMC has committed to matching Dollars for Scholars awards of up to $1000 per student (provided that the student has financial need). The total MMC budget for this program is set at $15,000 per year. All qualifying students should consider early processing as students who apply late may not be awarded the matching funds.
Competitive Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded to full-time, degree-seeking entering freshmen and transfer students. Awards range from $1,000 to $4,000 per academic year based on audition or portfolio review.
Acting (BFA): Candidates will participate in an acting class that includes movement, vocal exercises, improvisation and theater games. Candidates must also perform one short contemporary monologue (2-3 minutes). Interviews will be conducted by theatre faculty. Plan to spend at least three hours at this audition.
Art (BA): Students wishing to apply for scholarships in the disciplines of Studio Art, Graphic Design, or Photography should submit a CD with 20 images along with a separate image identification sheet with information on size and medium. Art History majors should submit a 5-7 page research paper on either a specific artist or artistic movement. All submissions should be sent directly to the Office of Admission and will be given careful consideration by the Art faculty. The priority deadline to apply for a scholarship is February 15 for Fall entrants, or November 15 for Spring entrants. Recipients of these awards will be notified by the Financial Aid Office in March for Fall entrants, or late November for Spring entrants. Art Program Information
Dance (BA and BFA): Candidates must perform a solo dance two to three minutes in length in any style of their choice: ballet, jazz or modern technique. The performance need not be choreographed by the applicant. A CD player is available. Interviews with the dance faculty will follow the audition.
Theatre (BA): Candidates may concentrate in acting, directing or design (set/costume/lighting). BA acting candidates will audition with the BFA candidates and design candidates will submit a portfolio and have an interview with the Resident Designer/Technical Director.
Endowed Scholarships
The following awards are determined by the Office of Admission. Students must be enrolled full-time, degree-seeking, and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.
Gladys Brooks Foundation Scholarship
New entering freshmen that demonstrate superior academic ability and outstanding leadership potential will be considered for this award. Recommendation letters, an essay on leadership history, and high school extracurricular activities determine the recipients of this scholarship. Students are considered for this award when applying for the Leadership Scholarship. Please refer to the Leadership Scholarship listed above for application instructions and deadlines.
Mahony Prowse Scholarship
New entering freshman that graduate from a New York City Catholic High School and demonstrate academic merit and financial need.
Margaret Mary Connolly Memorial Scholarship
Consideration given to new entering freshmen that demonstrate financial need and excel academically. Student must be a female graduate from a Catholic high school and plan to study education.
Sister Dymphna Leonard Scholarship
Must be a new entering traditional age freshmen and demonstrate financial need. Awarded to students who require MMC's small, supportive community to thrive academically. Requires two teacher recommendations.
Sister Edmund Harvey Scholarship
Consideration for this award is given to children of alumni. New entering freshmen must have a 3.0 GPA average or new entering transfer students must have a 2.5 GPA. Recipients maintaining a 2.0 GPA will be reconsidered.
Sister Regina Shelly Scholarship
Consideration for this award is given to new entering freshmen or transfer students that demonstrate financial need. Must be a female graduate from a Catholic high school in Brooklyn, New York.
Zeuschner Family Endowed Scholarship
New entering transfer students who transfer to Marymount Manhattan College from a metropolitan New York City area community college and demonstrate financial need and academic merit.
