Student Privacy Policies

The college's policies regarding student information and records are supported by the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA). The following items are defined as Directory Information and the College may disclose any of them without prior written consent:
  • Student name
  • Parents' names
  • Address
  • Telephone number
  • Date and place of birth
  • Major field of study
  • Participation in officially recognized activities
  • Dates of attendance
  • Degrees and awards received
  • Most recent previous school, educational agency, or institution attended
  • Photographs
If a student wishes to restrict any outside source from obtaining Directory Information, they must complete a "Request to Restrict Directory" form.

The College uses extreme discretion in releasing any student information to an outside source. While MMC is legally entitled to release Directory Information, it generally does not disclose more than deemed necessary. The following items are defined as Personally Identifiable Information and can never be disclosed by the College:

  • Social Security Number
  • Race
  • Gender
  • Grades
  • GPA
  • Country of citizenship
  • Religion

MMC Students may authorize the release of personally identifiable information by completing the "Student Permission of Release of Personal Identifiable Information" form.
