MARYMOUNT MANHATTAN COLLEGE, an urban, independent, liberal arts college with an enrollment of approximately 2200 undergraduates, located on Manhattan's Upper East Side, invites applications for the following full-time tenure-track position to begin January 2006:

SOCIAL SCIENCES
Dr. Kent Worcester, Chair

Assistant Professor of Teacher Education
Certified literacy specialist to teach literacy development and methods and to monitor the field experience of student teachers for our undergraduate teacher preparation program. Applicants must have experience in the elementary schools, be grounded in literacy theory and familiar with instructional technology. Master's Degree in Literacy and practical experience required; doctorate in education preferred; ABD considered. Candidates must demonstrate effective teaching skills at the college level.

Assistant Professor/Instructor
The department of Communication Arts at Marymount Manhattan College seeks a full-time faculty member for a temporary, one-semester non-tenure-track replacement position during the Spring 2006 semester. Responsibilities include a four-course teaching load, advising, and departmental service. Applicants must demonstrate teaching excellence and the ability to teach in at least two of the following areas: media history, introductory film studies, journalism, interpersonal communication, or multimedia. Applicants must possess a master's degree in Communication or a related discipline; Ph.D. preferred.
