Writing Center Gala 2008

The Marymount Manhattan College Writing Center held it's 15th Anniversary Gala Dinner at "Doubles" on March 5, co-honoring Susan Isaacs and Clementina Santi Flaherty. Lewis Burke Frumkes, director of the Writing Center, thanked the 140 guests for supporting the Writing Center and enabling it to become one of New York's outstanding cultural institutions.

Among the distinguished guests were: writers Mary and Carol Higgins Clark, Barbara Taylor Bradford, Dominick Dunne, Frank and Malachy McCourt, John Simon, Bruce Jay Friedman, Roy Blount Jr., Tony Hendra, Adam Gopnik, Hilma and Meg Wolitzer, Patty Marx, Dan Greenburg, Tama Janowitz, Alan Furst, Lawrence Block, and dozens of others. Also in the crowd were former president Regina Peruggi, benefactors: Ethel LeFrak, Mimi Levitt, Joan Jakobson and trustees: Judy Carson and Anne Flannery.

Attendees celebrating the Writing Center's 15th anniversary were treated to delicious and creative display, which included the anniversary cake honoring Susan Isaacs and Clementina Santi Flaherty and two books written by former Writing Center students Grace and Lucette Lagnado.
