College Honors Program

Letter From the Chair of Accounting and Business Management

Welcome to the Division of Accounting and Business Management. As you have many options for studying business and accounting we appreciate your interest in Marymount Manhattan. We believe that our program is the right fit for many recent high school graduates as well as for adult students who wish to upgrade their skills and advance their careers. The successes of our graduates demonstrate the benefits to be gained from choosing Marymount Manhattan.

There are three distinctive features of our program. First, at MMC we combine liberal arts courses with a core curriculum that introduces students to all aspects of business: accounting, finance, marketing and management. Our curriculum stresses case analysis, problem solving and the development of oral and written communication skills. In your business and accounting courses you will also learn how to function effectively in a socially and culturally diverse environment and to relate to the needs of the global business community.

Second, each student has an academic advisor for course selection and career counseling. This individualized approach is also reflected in our small classes with no more than fifteen students in advanced courses and no more than twenty-five in introductory courses. Small classes allow students to take an active role in class activities, group or individual projects.

Finally business education at Marymount Manhattan includes learning by doing. We encourage students to take credit internships in major businesses and non-profit organizations in New York City such as banks, advertising agencies, financial services companies and public relations firms. Students already working may arrange internships with their employers to do projects outside the scope of their regular responsibilities. Internships introduce students to the workplace and allow them to put their skills and knowledge into practice.

We believe that business education at Marymount Manhattan is enhanced by the strong liberal arts program required of all students.

As you explore our Web site, be sure to read what our current and past students have to say about us.
