Student Activities
|
|
The Division provides opportunities to students to be involved in clubs and organizations.
These organizations bring together individuals who share similar interests; create opportunities
to expand the members' knowledge of the business world; establish student interaction with the
community; provide occasions to meet and hear professionals from various fields; and encourage
students to develop professionalism, leadership skills, and industry contacts. Presently, the
Division offers two clubs: the Strategy Business Club and ALPFA.
Strategy Business Club
The Strategy Business Club is a student organization open to all Marymount Manhattan students.
Students elect their own officers and operate the club. The club hosts activities which include
career workshops, lectures, discussion groups, and field trips. The club is an exciting outlet for
extra-curricular activities related to the Accounting and Business Management
majors. It also creates opportunities for students and faculty to get acquainted outside the classroom.
ALPFA
Marymount Manhattan College has a student chapter of the national organization, Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting, ALPFA (see www.alpfa.org for the national website). While ALPFA promotes financial and accounting careers for Latinos, it welcomes all students who share the ideas of the organization. The organization provides students with opportunities to visit major accounting firms and financial companies in NYC and meet with professionals in these areas. Marymount Manhattan students run the student chapter as a college club and sponsor events throughout the year to support students in their career development |
