Lone Larsen

Lone Kjær Larsen, a native of Denmark, holds a B.F.A. in Dance from Boston Conservatory. Arriving in New York in 1985 she was awarded a full scholarship to study at the Martha Graham School and was invited to join the Martha Graham Ensemble and subsequently the Martha Graham Dance Company. She is fortunate to belong to the last generation to have worked directly with Martha Graham. Lone also performed for many years as soloist with Pearl Lang Dance Theatre, and has danced with Frank Schauffuss International Ballet Theatre, Anthony Morgan Dance Company, Judy Garay Dancers, Copenhagen's Ballet Plus, and in works by Yuriko, David Hochoy, Jose Limon, Warren Spears, and Jeanne Ruddy. She was featured in the Danish television series NEW DANCE and has performed in a variety of television shows. A versatile performer, Lone has appeared in productions such as the musical PAL JOEY, the Danish film HALABAD BLUES, and in the Eugene Ionesco play JACK, OR THE SUBMISSION.

Certified by Martha Graham, Lone is a long time faculty member of the Martha Graham School, teaching all levels of technique and repertoire. She participated in the reconstruction of Martha Graham's "Steps in the Street" and "Celebration", and continuously gives Master Classes, workshops, and scholarship auditions both in the United States and Europe. Lone has served on the faculties of Rudra Bejart, The Ailey School, High School of Performing Arts, Bartholin International Ballet Seminar -, Dansens Hus -, Danish Dance Theatre -, The School of Modern Dance & Choreography - all in Copenhagen, The Dance Space in Chicago, Marymount Manhattan College, and from 2002-2005 she served as Rehearsal Director and Choreographic Assistant to the award winning Danish Dance Theatre.

Lone was a founding member of the Danish BALLET PLUS, where she was Co-Artistic Director and resident choreographer. Her work has also been seen at Boston Conservatory Dance Theatre, ACDF in New Hampshire, Teatret Comedievognen in Copenhagen, Marymount Manhattan College, and she is presently choreographing for The Martha Graham School. She recently completed the reconstruction and staging of Pearl Lang's 1982 ballet "Tehillim" performed by Graham II at the Joyce Theatre.
