Jump Start is an excellent opportunity to launch your college success!

Jump Start offers an academically challenging, intensive three-week program of college coursework and activities; first-year students earn credits, meet friends, explore cultural offerings of New York City and connect with the Marymount community.

What happens in Jump Start?

Jump Start enables students to transition into their first semester at Marymount Manhattan with confidence and focus.

How do I sign up for Jump Start?

Complete and return the application as soon as possible as places are filled on a rolling basis.

Students earn 4 credits which satisfy core requirements of their degree. All Jump Starters will take FYM and a 3 credit course. The coursework is intensive and students can expect a daily schedule from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Courses for Jump Start 2013 are subject to change.

Jump Start 2013 Program Courses

3 Credits: Introduction to Sociology 101 acquaints students with the field of sociology and provides a basis for greater understanding of contemporary society. The socialization process, culture, institutions and inter-group relations are among the topics explored.
1 Credit: First Year Mentoring 101 is a course which assists incoming students in making a successful transition into the intellectual community of Marymount Manhattan College (MMC). Students will learn about the curriculum of MMC and are oriented to it's diverse campus and learning environment.
3 Credits: The Literary Imagination 125 is a course that explores how authors exercise their imagination to communicate their ideas in various literary genres, including poetry, drama, and fiction. Faculty will incorporate film, museum visits and other extracurricular activities to enhance your learning experience.

Citywide Exploration: Additionally, Jump Start exposes students to cultural offerings of the Big Apple, including a Broadway Show!


How much does the Jump Start Program Cost?

Tuition, books, housing, lockers and scheduled activities are included (meals are not included). The program cost for Jump Start 2013 is $3,998 for students in housing and $2,948 for commuter students without housing.
