Quick Advice for Choosing Classes

Basic Tools:
  1. The College Catalogue for the year you began at MMC
  2. Course descriptions found in the catalogue or on the college web site
  3. Your Major/Core/Shared curriculum planning sheet for the year you entered MMC
  4. A current schedule of classes available at the Registrar's Office and on the web site
  5. Academic Planning Worksheet which will help you plan your weekly schedule (See also: Advisement Planning Worksheet)

Basic goal:

Always choose classes that sound interesting to you and meet degree requirements. Degree requirements include courses in the Core/Shared Curriculum, Major and Minor (if you have one). Typically, each student has some credits of Open Electives, courses that do not meet particular requirements, but are needed to reach 120 credits to graduate. Your schedule should be a reflection of all the above and should be balanced (not taking all Major requirements or all the Core/Shared requirements or all electives in one semester).
