Archives

Sister Agnes Elliott, RSHM, established the
Marymount Manhattan College archive in 1974.

Located on the library's 2nd floor, the archive currently has three collections available for scholarly use:

The Honorable Geraldine A. Ferraro

A three-term Member of Congress from the Ninth District, Queens, New York, the first woman and first Italian American to be nominated to the vice presidency by a major political party, and a Marymount Manhattan College alumna (Class of 1956), the Honorable Geraldine A. Ferraro has graciously donated her papers to the college. Three guides to this collection are available to researchers: The Geraldine A. Ferraro Papers, The Geraldine A. Ferraro Papers: Photograph Finding Guide and Addendum of The Geraldine A. Ferraro Papers.

The William Harris Papers

This collection has been completely processed and consists of 96 scripts, 4,450 folders of clippings and a collection of photographs gathered by Mr. Harris during the decades of the 1960s to the 1990s, to support his work as a critic of avant-garde theater and dance in downtown Manhattan. Marymount Manhattan College

The College's own papers are inventoried and arranged as they are deposited; this collection currently consists of 246 boxes of papers, publications, photographs, audio- and videotape, objects and ephemera, mostly from the decades of the 1940s to the 1980s. View the guide to the MMC Papers and MMC Photos .

The George and Ethel Martin Papers

George and Ethel Martin began as dancers on Broadway and in movie musicals and moved on to choreography, directing and stage management. Their collection of sixteen boxes includes scores and sheet music for musicals from the 1940s to the 1990s, videotape and theatre ephemera, such as souvenir jackets given to the cast and crew of Broadway. The archives are available to scholars and students interested in topics on which its materials might shed light, and the archivist can do searches for specific information or for photographs and other media. The current archivist Mary Elizabeth Brown is available via phone at (212)774-4817 and at Mary Elizabeth Brown.
