Media Center

The Media Center is responsible for the college community requests and service of multi-media equipment. This includes audio-visual presentations on all formats, sound reinforcement for speakers/special events, provision of AV materials such as videos and DVDs for classroom instruction, and equipment for individual student projects. In addition, we serve the Communication Arts Department, overseeing checkouts and maintenance of their digital video production equipment. We also assist the sound recording classes with providing student access to the Sound Lab on the 5th floor of Nugent building.

The Media Center maintains a large collection of over 3500 titles of video and DVD films for student and faculty use. Students may check out up to two non-reserved titles for two days. The Media Center also maintains a reserve section for faculty use throughout the semester. Students may access the Video/DVD Reserve Collection through IPTV, a format for digitizing AV materials, and view the work on laptop computers that can be checked out in the Media Center or they may view these items on our permanent screens in the Media Center.

We house a collection of audio titles on record, tape and CD, including French language tapes, sound effects CDs and dialect tapes. In addition we also have a selection of maps, including large roll maps for individual and class viewing.

The Media Center is open during library hours. Please direct questions about the Media Center to (212) 774-4805.
